Hunting is developed trough societies, and only the members of these organizations, or people with a free card, can practise it. But only a few are given, and only for a determined time. In Vilagarcía there is a hunting society, Carcita, but it does not admit any new members. In the municipality there is a game preserve, and seven more in the area (in Meis, Armenteira, Meaño, O Grove, Sanxenxo, Cambados and Vilanova).

Open season starts in September or October, and it finishes in January or February. The first week is usually for the wild boar hunting, and then it is the season for rabbit and partridge, among other species.
