This
route is the best option for visitors who want to study in depth
the wine culture, and more specifically, the albariño culture.
This is one of the most developed cultural offers in O Salnés,
the area of the Denominación de Origen (classification
that serves as a guarantee of quality) which concentrate the biggest
area of cultivation, litres of production and number of cellars.
Also, O Salnés is the birthplace of the own albariño
wine.
The Rías Baixas route -pioneer in Spain for its organization
and system of signals- allows the tourist to visit several cellars
with different characteristics: great cooperative societies, familiar
business, urban installations, historical buildings, craft cellars...
In any of them, the visitor will have the chance to taste wine
and liquors and to know, straight from the producers, how the
golden and delicate grape albariña becomes a delicious
wine that cheers the palate and the heart. The work of the vine
growers of O Salnés (including those from Vilagarcía)
has made of the albariño the leader of the white wines
in the world, to the point of deserving innumerable awards in
the most reputable wine fairs. These realities can be discovered
through a route constituted by about thirty cellars of all the
municipalities of the area of O Salnés.
