The traveller who arrives in Vilagarcía
by train has to do it by means of the most used railway of Galicia:
the one that connects A Coruña and Vigo, in the so-called
Eje Atlántico. All the trains that cover this itinerary
stop at Vilagarcía station: TRD trains as well as Regional
ones connects the town with Santiago, A Coruña, Vigo and
Pontevedra. At Santiago and Redondela stations it is possible
to connect with the main Spanish railways.
Visitors
that arrive by car have several options. For those that come from
the centre of Galicia there are two chances: the N-640 that goes
from Silleda to Vilagarcía through the municipality of
Caldas, and the C-531 that connects Pontevedra with Vilagarcía.
The road C-550, that goes over the Galician western coast, from
Fisterra to Tui, is used by those arriving from the north (Santiago)
as well as from the south (Cambados - O Grove).
From these three roads it is possible to link
up with other routes of high capacity near Vilagarcía.
In the neighbouring municipality of Cambados there is an access
to the main road of O Salnés that has diversions towards
Meaño, Ribadumia, Sanxenxo, and O Grove and, in the opposite
direction, to Barro, from where you can connect with the A-9 highway.
But if you want to get a direct access to this toll motorway,
the best option is to use the link at Caldas municipality, only
six kilometres away from the centre of Vilagarcía trough
the road of O Pousadoiro, a direct and newly improved connection.
